Sahib Gafarova answered accusations of Ararat Mirzoyan

On the eve, the Chairman of Milli Majlis Sahib Gafarov took part in the online meeting of the heads of parliaments of a number of countries on the topic “The role of parliamentarians in strengthening international peace and trust”, organized on the initiative of the Parliament of Turkmenistan.

Speaker noted that in the globalizing world the role of national parliaments, along with international and regional parliamentary organizations, is of particular importance for strengthening peace and confidence. To solve global problems facing humanity, much depends on the cooperation of the parliaments of the countries of the world both in bilateral format and within the framework of international and regional organizations. Today, inter-parliamentary cooperation should provide support to countries in establishing peace and stability in the international arena, solving topical problems of world politics, as well as compliance with current norms of international law.

The Chairman of Milli Majlis noted that the silence and inaction of the international community, with which Azerbaijan faced during the occupation of Armenia of the territories of Azerbaijan, testifies to the existence of double standards in the modern world. The conflict broke out with a new force last year between Armenia and Azerbaijan ended with the 44-day Patriotic War, which put the end of the occupation by the Armed Forces of Armenia, 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan, which, in turn, brought new realities to our region.

In response to the Armenian Parliament Speaker, A. Mirzoyan, a unreasonable statement of the Armenian Prisoners of War, Sakhib Gafarov, noted that the Armenian Chairman of the Armenian Parliament continues the rhetoric of conflict and hatred again. Azerbaijan fulfilled its obligations arising from the three-sided statement, while Armenia still sends sabotage groups to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, which is a gross violation of the joint statement of November 10, 2020 and is aimed at undermining peace and security in the region. The Chairman of the Milli Majlis Sahib Gafarov stressed that Armenian citizens detained during the counter-terrorist operation by the State Security Service and the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan cannot be considered prisoners of war.

In response to accusations of the Armenian Parliament Speaker to Azerbaijan in Terrorism, Sahib Gafarov noted that in 1992 the Armenian armed forces committed an act of genocide in the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly. For its national ownership, 613 peaceful Azerbaijanis were killed, 1275 inhabitants of the city were captured, the fate of about 70 women and 26 children from their number are still unknown.
