Sakhiba Gafarova told chairman of European Parliament about inadmissibility of censorship

The chairman of the Milli Majlis Sakhib Gafarov responded to the letter of the chairman of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.

According to Haqqin.az, the press service of the parliament, a letter to Gafarova says that members of the Azerbaijani parliament, also presented in the mechanisms of international cooperation, have the right to freely express their opinion on issues that are within their competence. Censorship in the Azerbaijani parliament is unacceptable, Gafarova emphasized.

The response says that representatives of the Milli Majlis in the European Union of the Es-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, based on their intention to expand dialogue with European partners, actively interacted with their colleagues and worked on new initiatives aimed at developing mutually beneficial cooperation.

“We would like to see the same attitude from the European parliament. False, biased and unilateral accusations expressed in biased statements and resolutions cannot be considered constructive criticism and do not serve the goals set out above. In addition, the committee should become a platform that helps strengthen cooperation through joint efforts between Milli Majlis and the European parliament, ”the letter says.
