Samarkand discuss situation in Afghanistan

In Samarkand, on April 13, the fourth ministerial meeting of the states – the closest neighbors of Afghanistan is being held, the Uzbek media reported.

The meeting is attended by the heads of the foreign policy departments of Iran, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Earlier, on March 7, the first meeting of special representatives of the Afghanistan countries took place in Tashkent, at which the initiative of Uzbekistan on the creation of a high-level international negotiation group under the auspices of the UN of the Afghan authorities of the phased fulfillment of the obligations of the parties received a positive assessment.

It is planned to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the parties to ensure the fulfillment of the country’s new authorities of the country’s community – the creation of the inclusive government, ensure the access of Afghan women to work and obtaining education, compliance with the rights of national minorities.

In addition, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiir Saidov on the morning of April 13 met in Samarkand with the Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
