Samir Sharifov went to Minister of Investments of Saudi Arabia

The VI meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan on economic, commercial, investment, technical, cultural, sports and youth cooperation was held in Er-Riyadh.

In the framework of the meeting, negotiations of the Commission co-chairs were held – Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan Samira Sharifova and Minister of Investments of Saudi Arabia Khalida Bin Abdulaziz Al-Faliha.

The head of the financial department of the kingdom congratulated Azerbaijan with the restoration of territorial integrity and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Baku and Er-Riyadh.

In turn, Samir Sharifov said that relations between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia continue to develop rapidly, emphasizing the importance of making further measures to strengthen them.

“We are interested in attracting a large number of Saudi company to invest in Azerbaijan, especially in non-oil and trading spheres,” said Minister Sharifov.

The ministers then announced the beginning of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission. On the agenda, there was a discussion of the current state of economic cooperation, trade and investment.

Stressing a high level of relationship between the governments of Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, Samir Sharifov said that countries have all the opportunities for the further development of cooperation in the economic sphere.

Informed about the construction work carried out on the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the Commission’s co-chairman said that now work on demining territories continues in Karabakh.

Finance Minister told the participants of the Commission on a favorable business and investment climate created in Azerbaijan, and noted that there are opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism, calling businessmen to invest in this sphere.

at the meeting also noted that although the coronavirus pandemic had a negative effect on trade relations between the two countries in 2020, in January-October of this year, the turnover between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia grew by 47.3%.

Following the discussion, the co-chairs of Samir Sharifov and Khalid Bin Abdel Aziz Al-Falih signed the Protocol VI meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technical, Cultural, Sports and Youth Cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
