Moldova President Maya Sandu admitted that now the country has not actually has a combat -ready army, and this situation needs to be changed. “For 30 years, the Army of Moldova was left without equipment, without military equipment and combat -ready funds. Now we are aware of the consequences,” Maya Sandu said during the ceremony.

The President admitted that Moldova “does not have an effective shield from the threat, because she did not develop proper military potential, did not create critical elements of infrastructure and did not educate social stability”.

She noted that the military Moldovans participating in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN and OSCE enjoy the reputation of professionals.

May Sandu said that the presence of a well -prepared army gives the country self -confidence and freedom of strategic choice, and Moldova should make every effort to create a professional modern army.
