Sandu called on Belgium and Ireland to support European integration of Moldova

Moldova President Maya Sandu held telephone conversations with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Alexander de Kroux and Prime Minister of Ireland Leo Varakar.

The main topic of discussion was the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the process of joining the European Union, the presidential press service reports.

The head of state spoke about the consistent efforts of Moldova in the implementation of the necessary reforms for the modernization of the country and promotion along the European path.

The President noted significant progress in fulfilling the recommendations of the European Commission, which is also reflected in the report of the commission of December 8.

During the conversations, Mayan Sandu called on the leaders of Belgium and Ireland to support the decision on the speedy beginning of negotiations with the Republic of Moldova.

This issue will be discussed at a meeting of the European Council December 14-15.

Until then, President Maya Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Republic and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, will conduct discussions with senior officials of all EU member countries to emphasize the importance of negotiations on the entry of the Republic of Moldova in European Union.
