Secretary General of the organization of the Turkic states (OTG) Kubanychbek Omuraliev said that the holding of an informal summit of OTG for the first time a member of the observer – Hungary – indicates the growing role of Budapest in the organization.
Omuraliev wrote an article about the informal summit of OTG, which was held on May 20-21 in the capital of Hungary Budapest.
He noted that the countries of OTG have long been connected by general cultural and historical heritage. The organization officially created in 2009 Omuraliev recalled that in October 2024, Ankara celebrated the 15th anniversary of the creation of ODG.
According to the Secretary General, over 15 years, the cooperation between the organization members has expanded and covers more than 35 regions. Within the framework of the OTG, there are structures such as the International Organization of Turkic Culture (Turksoy), the parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic states (Turkpa), the Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Fund, the Union of Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Turkic Investment Fund.
OTG collaborates with various international organizations. Omuraliev emphasized that the informal Summit for the first time was accepted by the observer, which indicates the growing role of Hungary in the organization.
The Secretary General added that following the results of the summit, which discussed many regional and global issues, a Budapest declaration was signed and regional integration, strategic orientation and determination of the OTG.

The decision on the entry of Uzbekistan into the Turkic culture and heritage fund was also signed by leaders. Omurealiev said that the decision on the appointment of the executive director of the OTG representative office in Hungary was also signed by the Council of Foreign Ministers.
The Secretary General also said that foreign ministers approved the decision to provide the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRK) of the observer membership at the Turkic Academy.
As part of the summit, the ALISHIR NAVOIT International Prize named after the Nobel Prize in chemistry, Professor Aziza Sanjaru, was held. The author emphasized that this award was awarded for the scientific contribution of Sanjara and his commitment to the unity and identity of the Turkic world.
