Senate of Kazakhstan ratified protocol on transit of Russian oil to China through republic

Kazakhstani deputies of the Senate approved the Law on ratification of the protocol on amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of transportation of Russian oil through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the People’s Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 24, 2013. ” This is reported by the agency Kazinform.

The purpose of the law is the ratification of the protocol signed on June 16, 2023 in the city of St. Petersburg, which provides for amendments to the agreement regarding the release of the volume of oil and tariff transit and tariffs.

The Kazakhstan side will tax oil transportation services at the value of value added by the zero rate added in the agreement. The protocol extended the validity of the agreement ten years until January 1, 2034.
