The Government of South Korea has expressed concern in connection with the reports of the Russian media about the decision to send 1 thousand sappers and 5 thousand military builders from North Korea to the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
As the Yonhap agency reports, during the G7 summit, in which the president of South Korea Lee Jae Men took part, the representative of the presidential administration said that North Korea’s plans to send to Russia the military are alarming and Seoul does not support such actions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea also expressed deep concern and called on North Korea to immediately stop such actions.
“The reception and employment of the North Korean workers abroad is a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolutions,” emphasized one of the representatives of the South Korean Foreign Ministry, who wished to remain anonymous.
Earlier, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoigu said that, as part of the assistance to recovery work, North Korea decided to send 1 thousand sappers and 5 thousand military builders to the Kursk region.
