Serbia announced reduction in number of military personnel on border with Kosovo

The number of military personnel on the border with Kosovo was reduced from 8,350 to 4,500 people. This was announced by the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia Milan Moysilovich.

The Minister of Defense of Serbia Milos Vschievich and the head of the General Staff of the Services of Serbia Moisilovich made statements for the press in Belgrade regarding clashes in the north of Kosovo September 24th.

The head of the Ministry of Defense Vuchievich said that if the Serbian army receives an order from the President of Serbia Alexander Vuchich, so that its units enter the north of Kosovo, then it will professionally fulfill this task without notifying NATO peacekeeping for Kosovo (KFOR).

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defense announced the readiness to take the necessary steps in order to avoid the occurrence of such a situation.

“We believe that the forces of the KFOR should play an important role in the region. Kosovo police used weapons produced in Serbia,” says Vuchievich.

Events September 24 in the north of Kosovo

The tension that lasted several months in the north of Kosovo again aggravated on the morning of September 24, when, as a result of shelling by armed Serbs, who blocked the road to the village of Bansk, where the policeman is mainly lived.

Prime Minister Kosovo Albin Kurti said that a well-armed group of about 30 people attacked the Kosovo police, liable for the incident on Serbia.

The armed group, which had hidden in the Ban Monastery and its environs, was surrounded by the Kosovo police, and during the day the clashes continued in the region.

According to the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs, during an operation carried out in Bansk, at least three attackers were killed, and six people were detained.

President of Serbia Vuchich confirmed that the incident, which as a result of which the police officer Kosovo was killed, was committed by Kosovo Serbs.
