Serbia: Due To Abnormal Heat, “red” Level Of Weather Hazard

In Serbia, due to high temperature indicators, which are expected to remain for five days, a red level of weather anxiety has been declared throughout the country. Citizens also warned about the risk of forest fires.

The statement of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia (RHMZ) reports that this week the air temperature throughout the country will fluctuate from 32 to 42 degrees.

It is noted that the red level of anxiety is declared due to the hot weather coming from the African continent. On Friday, the temperature is expected to reach 42 degrees.

Residents are recommended to avoid going outside in midday hours. In the morning in the capital of the country, Belgrade, the temperature was 29 degrees.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia also warned the population about the high risk of fires in the coming days due to the heat.

Deputy Head of the Department of Fire and Rescue Units at the Emergency Department for Emergency Situations, Milos Milenkovich informed the Serbian media that in June and July, an increase in the number of forest fires was recorded by 284%. At the moment, four foci of fire are continuing in open areas.

The head of the department noted that 15 people managed to save from fires caused by high temperatures in recent months, and emphasized that the human factor remains the main reason for fires.
