The share of the states – members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tajikistan’s foreign trade reached 72%. This was stated by the Tajik media, citing a statement by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Zavkazod at a meeting of ministers of the ECOS Economics, in the Tianjin (PRC).
The delegation of the republic took part in a closed meeting dedicated to the issues of economic integration and digital transformation within the SCO.
According to the minister, under the leadership of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, the Republic attaches particular importance to expanding economic ties with the SCO countries, which is already reflected in the structure of foreign trade.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the role of a digital economy in global economic growth. As noted, at present its share in the global GDP exceeds 15% and can reach 20% in the coming years.
Voskazyzoda also presented the key achievements of Tajikistan in the field of digitalization of the national economy. In this regard, he said that 2025-2030 in the republic were declared “the years of development of digital economy and innovation.”
According to the media, a number of initiatives have been implemented in Tajikistan, including the adoption of strategic documents, the creation of specialized structures, the introduction of digital platforms in the socio-economic spheres, the development of the Smart City concept in Dushanbe, as well as the support of international startups, such as the ZyPl.AI platform.
Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental structure founded in 2001. It includes Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Belarus. The organization is focused on the development of cooperation in the areas of politics, security, economics, transport and culture.
Tajikistan is one of the founding countries of the SCO and is actively involved in its multilateral initiatives. In recent years, the interaction of the republic with the SCO states has significantly intensified, especially in the economic sphere.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the volume of foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan with the SCO countries annually demonstrates growth. The key partners of the republic within the organization remain China, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The basis of trade is mineral raw materials, agricultural products, building materials, electricity and light industry goods.
