Shoigu offered to transfer capital of Russia to Siberia

RF Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposed to build three-five cities in Siberia with a population to one million people and transfer the capital of Russia there. He stated this at a meeting with the scientific publicity of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk, the merchant reports.

We need to build three in Siberia, and there are better five major centers of scientific and industrial, economic centers, simply speaking, cities with a population of 300-500 thousand, better – up to a million people. And it’s not just a city to build and move the capital here, but to make them completely specifically targeted on this or that sphere.

As an example, Shoigu led plans that existed before the collapse of the USSR. “Unfortunately, for known reasons, the project was stopped,” said the minister.

At the meeting, Shoigu also expressed regret that in Russia it is impossible to create such major projects as Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Krasnoyarsk and Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP, Baikal Amur highway. “Remember how sincere people went to all these construction sites,” the minister noted.
