Some news sources are spreading rumors of an attempted military coup in the country, but the parties have not yet made official statements on this matter.
Presidential elections were held in Guinea-Bissau on November 23 and parliamentary elections.
Incumbent President Oumaro Sissoko Embalu said even before the official results were announced that he had won 65% of the vote. Embalu’s closest rival, independent candidate Fernando Diaz da Costa, also declared victory in the elections.
The first results of the presidential election were due to be announced on November 27.
