Leading freight air carrier Silk Way Airlines, which is part of the Silk Way Group and the serving network of charter areas around the world, marks its 20th anniversary.
From the very beginning of operation, the company contributed to the strengthening of economic independence and regional leadership of Azerbaijan. High enthusiasm contributed to the implementation of the main objectives of the airline.
Over the years, the Silk Way Airlines route network covered more than 130 countries of the world, and its aircraft flew about 70 million marine miles, having delivered more than 600 thousand tons of cargo.
The state of the company founded in 2001 currently has more than 440 specialists with a high level of knowledge and internationally recognized qualifications. Initially, the airline was originally created on the basis of the flight unit of passenger aviation. Prior to the basis of the company, three crews, successfully completed retraining in the Julian Technical Center near Kiev in 1996, completed training on the simulators of the Ukrainian airfield of Uzin. Subsequently, they formed the first flight composition of Silk Way Airlines.
Currently, the fleet Silk Way Airlines consists of five IL-76 aircraft. Often the crews make the delivery of special and critical goods on the territory, completely cut from the road network, on airfields with a poor or practically absent infrastructure, without ground support and equipment for loading and unloading. Due to the equipment of the cargo compartment, the IL-76 aircraft are the best solution for the carriage of large, expensive and dangerous goods, as well as oil and gas equipment, self-propelled equipment and oversized cargo.
The first international freight flight of Silk Way Airlines was performed on the aircraft IL-76 4K-AZ19 route Baku-Le Bourge Bagram in October 2001. It was the first civil flight from the beginning of the operation “Unstable freedom” in Afghanistan.
Today, Silk Way Airlines provides commercially favorable decisions to meet the needs of a number of freight traffic, possessing extensive experience in directions inaccessible to regular flights.
