Silk Way West Airlines expands its presence in Africa

Silk West Airlines continues to expand its network worldwide. So, the airline signed an interline agreement with the Kenyan company Astral Aviation, according to which both parties will be given the benefits of cross-sales through the use of a wide network of circular flights to Africa. In accordance with this Agreement, Al-Mackum International Airport in the UAE, also known as Dubai World Central (DWC), will execute the functions of a key transit node.

So, Silk West Airlines will deliver cargo to Dubai, sending them to the Astral Aviation flight to Nairobi, who, in turn, will be connected to the Network of the Kenyan air carrier. By the same cargo scheme will be delivered back from the Astral Aviation base in Nairobi. Kenya airline flights through African Continent will be successfully connected to the Silk West Airlines network.

Since the carrier does not fulfill regular flights in this direction, this agreement will allow Silk West Airlines to expand its network in Africa. Subsequently, the carrier network will complement each other, as there are a number of markets on which both airlines do not intersect.

“Getting access to such a large network on the African continent is another success for us. The advantages of this interline agreement are of great interest. In cooperation with Astral Aviation, we expand our presence in Africa,” said ISMEA chief commercial director (Indian subcontinent , Middle East, Africa) Silk West Airlines Johnny Rubio.

According to Sandhan Gadia, the chief executive director of Astral Aviation, the conclusion of an interline agreement, which will allow the African carrier to connect to the Silk West Airlines network and send goods in both directions, is an achievement for the Kenyan airline. “We will continue to create new alliances and partnerships during a pandemic in accordance with our philosophy to promote cooperation with airlines and all participants in the supply chain, as this will allow our customers to take advantage of the best opportunities and communications with our networks.”

Astral Aviation is the airline based on Nairobi, Kenya. The carrier, founded in November 2000, carries out regular and charter flights to regional destinations in Africa and to the Belgian city of Liege. The main base of the air carrier is the Jomo Ceniata International Airport in Nairobi. Currently, Astral Aviation performs two circular flights a week from Nairobi in Dubai.
