Since 2000, Türkiye has increased number of passengers of local airlines 8 times

In Turkey, the number of passengers transported by local airlines in the past 20 years has increased by 8 times.

Turkey in recent years has made significant investments in the aviation sector in order to stimulate foreign trade and the tourist sector.

At the same time, the aviation industry is the basis of the country’s economy, regardless of freight and passenger transportation.

As Anadolo reports with reference to the data of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), an increase in Turkey’s share in world and European air transportation indicates the growing success of the country in the field of aviation, including thanks to implemented projects.

In 2000, local airlines transported 12.9 million passengers, and Turkey ranked 26th in the world ranking. Whereas in 2021, when the consequences of the pandemic still affected, Turkey rose to 70.7 million passengers.

Thus, the number of passengers transported by local airlines over the past 21 years has increased 8 times.

In addition, the increase in the total number of passengers in Turkey is attracting attention and an increase in the total number of passengers.

If in 2003 the passenger flow on internal and international lines was 34.4 million, then in 2022 this figure increased by 430 percent to 182.3 million people.

The increase in the share of Turkey in world and European air transportation was largely contributed to the Istanbul airport.
