Siyyarto: “Grain initiative” is only success of intermediaries in Ukraine

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Siyyarto called the Black Sea grain initiative “the only success of intermediaries in Ukraine.”

The head of Hungarian diplomacy answered the questions of Anadol after the opening ceremony of the Medicor Medical Hungarian company in Ankara.

He noted that Hungary, as a neighbor of Ukraine, is one of the most affected countries.

The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry emphasized the need to stop bloodshed in Ukraine in the shortest possible time. According to him, this requires reliable intermediaries.

“Black Sea Grain Initiative” is the only success of intermediaries in Ukraine. It was achieved with the assistance of Turkey, personally the president (Recep Tayyip) Erdogan. This is the only important agreement between the warring parties from the beginning of the conflict, ”Siyyarto said.

Siyyarto emphasized that Turkey and in the coming period should play an important role in the support of peaceful initiatives to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

He expressed the hope that in the near future it would be possible to create a favorable ground for the ceasefire and the beginning of peace negotiations. We hope that the Turkish government will continue to contribute to the world around the world, the minister said.

The head of diplomacy commented on further the refusal of the Hungarian side of the import of grain from Poland and Ukraine and the reaction to this EU instances. “(Grain) Agreement was originally intended to promote the export of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products to countries where this product is important from the point of view of food security. The agreement did not provide for the supply of large volumes of grain to the markets of central Europe. In other words, these deliveries contradict agreements” – he said.

According to Siyyarto, if the European Union takes steps to rectify the situation, then Hungary will be ready for cooperation in the agricultural sector. Otherwise, we will continue to act unilaterally, the minister stated.

Regarding the position of Budapest on the issue of Sweden membership in NATO, Siyyarto said that the final decision on this issue should be made by the national parliament, and the government is positively configured.

“In recent years, the officials of Sweden have constantly insulted the feelings of the Hungarian people, criticized Budapest, cast doubt on the democracy of our country. Sweden accused us that we did not comply with pan -European values, violate democratic standards. They called into question the ability of Hungarian the people to perform their future. The legitimacy of our elections, and therefore parliament, was also in doubt, ”he said.
