Son Of Murdered Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi Has Been Released

The son of slain Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Hannibal Gaddafi, who has been detained in Lebanon since December 2015, has been released on bail in the amount of 893 thousand dollars.

According to the official Lebanese news agency NNA, Hannibal Gaddafi, who was detained in Lebanon for about 10 years, was released after his lawyers paid a bail amount of 893 thousand dollars.

On November 6, Lebanese Judge Zahir Hammadeh approved Gaddafi’s release, reducing his bail from $11 million to approximately $900,000.

Hannibal Gaddafi has been imprisoned in Lebanon since 2015

Hannibal Gaddafi was kidnapped by unknown persons in Syria in December 2015, after which he was taken to Lebanon and taken into custody guard. He has since been held in a prison in Beirut as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Musa al-Sadr and two of his associates.

Lebanon’s Shiite community and the Amal movement hold the Gaddafi regime responsible for the disappearance of Shiite cleric Musa al-Sadr in Libya in 1978. However, the former Libyan leadership denied these accusations, claiming that Sadr and his companions left Tripoli for Italy.

Hannibal Gaddafi was born in 1975 and is married to former Lebanese model Elin al-Sekaf. The couple have two children.
