The speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said that the geopolitical significance of the average corridor (Transcaspian route) is growing rapidly, emphasizing the role of Turkey as the most important partner in the realization of the potential of this transport path connecting Europe and Asia.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the chairman of the great National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmush after a bilateral meeting in Ankara, Papuashvili noted: “The average corridor strengthens the economic ties between Europe and Asia. This is the most important symbol of regional cooperation, energy security, digital connectedness and sustainable development. Türkiye is our extremely important partner in the full disclosure of the potential this route “.
Papuashvili expressed satisfaction with a visit to friendly Turkey and thanked Kurtulmush for the warm welcome and informative negotiations. He emphasized that strong and multifaceted strategic relations have developed between Turkey and Georgia, based on mutual respect and trust, which are only strengthened every year.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the deepening of inter -parliamentary connections, as well as cooperation in areas such as economics, energy and education. Papuashvili noted that both countries have similar approaches to ensuring peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
Special attention, according to him, was paid to the development of cultural and educational connections, as well as the further strengthening of inter -parliamentary dialogue, which both sides attach great importance.
The Georgian speaker also recalled that the trilateral meeting of the parliaments of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan was postponed due to destructive earthquakes in Turkey, but now “all three parliaments are ready to resume work in this format at the speaker level”
