State Duma banned change of sex in Russia

The State Duma (GD) of Russia at a plenary session on Friday adopted a bill on introducing a ban on medical interventions aimed at changing human sex.

Deputies of the State Duma adopted in the third reading amendments to individual legislative acts regarding the ban on the change of human floor. Almost 400 deputies from all factions led by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin became its authors, according to the website of the lower house of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The law establishes a ban on the implementation of any medical interventions – both surgical surgery and the use of drugs – aimed at the formation of the primary or secondary sexual characteristics of the other sex.

It is also forbidden to change the floor in state documents. Including after the law entry into force all the certificates of the change of gender by which the person underwent the operation will be canceled, but has not yet changed his passport.

In this case, the ban will not affect medical interventions associated with the treatment of congenital anomalies, genetic and endocrine diseases associated with a violation of the formation of the genital organs in children. The decision to conduct such interventions will be made by the medical commission.

The law will enter into force from the day of official publication.

Commenting on the adoption of the law, the Chairman of the State Duma said in his Telegram channel that for Russia the trend on the change of sex.

Volodin believes that this decision protects citizens and children of the country.

“A monstrous trend! This is a path leading to the degeneration of the nation. It is unacceptable to us,” he wrote.
