The State Duma approved Andrei Nikitin to the post of Minister of Transport of Russia.
According to the press service of the lower house of the Federal Assembly (Parliament) of the Russian Federation, the decision to support the candidacy of Nikitin was made unanimously: “FOR” 408 deputies were expressed.
A candidate for the post of minister presented to the deputies a program of the main areas of activity of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. Andrei Nikitin recalled that the day before he met with all five political factions. “We discussed almost the entire range of transport issues,” he said.
On the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the head of the Ministry of Transport of Roman Starovoit. The corresponding decree was published on the portal of legal acts of the Russian Federation. The document does not have a wording about the reasons for the resignation. The minister has held a ministerial post since May 2024. Prior to this, Starovoit was the governor of the Kursk region. Later it became known that the ex-Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation committed suicide in Odintsovo near Moscow.
