State Duma Of Russian Federation Ratified Strategic Partnership Agreement With Venezuela

The State Duma unanimously ratified the agreement between Russia and Venezuela on strategic partnership and cooperation. This is stated in the message of the lower house of the Federal Assembly – the Parliament of the Russian Federation.

According to the message, the document was signed on May 7, 2025 following negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Moscow.

The agreement expands interaction in the political and economic spheres, including energy, mining, transport, communications, as well as in the field of security, countering terrorism and extremism, follows from the publication.

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted that despite different political worldviews, all factions of the State Duma support the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin and unanimously support the ratification of the treaty.

According to him, the document is not only about comprehensive development of relations with the Republic.

“This is the building of a multipolar world, an opportunity for Venezuela to develop as a sovereign state, and for the people of Venezuela to plan their future themselves. We see how they are trying to impose puppets on them,” Volodin emphasized.

The Chairman of the State Duma noted that Venezuela today is in a difficult situation of challenges and struggle for their own sovereignty.

“Those who begin to try to bring an entire people to their knees through threats will not succeed, because a multipolar world is already a given. Therefore, ratification (of the treaty) is concrete steps towards peace, development, stability not only of Venezuela, but also of Latin America as a whole,” he added.

It is reported that The National Assembly of Venezuela, for its part, ratified the document. On October 7, Nicolas Maduro signed a decree on the entry into force of the treaty.

Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma a bill on ratification of the treaty with Venezuela regarding strategic partnership and cooperation on October 16.
