Students from Chechnya and Dagestan were expelled from college for hijabs

In the Novocherkassk medical college, five students were expelled due to wearing a hijab. According to the Association of Russian Lawyers, expelled students are natives of Chechnya and Dagestan. The motivation for the deduction was the “violation of the rules of the internal routine” – wearing clothes with religious attributes, Russian media write.

College leadership believes that hijab creates unsanitary conditions, which is unacceptable in the profession of a doctor. According to the expended students, the college administration explained to them that wearing religious clothing negatively affects other students.

“The reprimand states that we violate the rules of the schedule, we are of religious clothes with religious attributes. Although there are no religious paraphernalia on our clothes. We do not pray in the college, we do not perform any rites relating to religion. We just want to study and get an education. We want to achieve justice, ”the girls said.

Lawyers noted that no complaints were received from the college from the college.

Acting of the director Igor Shikul believes that students were expelled for business. Doctors should wear exclusively sterile white coat and hats, so hijabs violate college rules, he insists.
