Switzerland: referendum is held according to Covid-19 law, climate protection and taxes

In Switzerland on Sunday, June 18, a referendum is held on the issue of corporate tax, climate change and extension of anti -icing legislation.

According to Swissinfo, one of the referendum issues is related to the introduction of a tax of at least 15 percent for large international corporations, whose annual profit exceeds $ 750 million.

Since the implementation of this plan requires amendments to the Constitution, it was required to hold a popular referendum.

As for the law on the protection of the climate, it provides for the achievement of carbon neutrality in Switzerland by 2050 by the referendum. The law includes various incentives and financial assistance to achieve goals at the zero level of emissions.

Voting on the “Law on Covid-19” is aimed at gradual removal of restrictions by 2024, despite the end of the epidemic.

The country’s leadership believes that laws must be left in force until June 2024 in case of a new flash of incidence: in this case, existing acts will allow Switzerland to quickly react to danger. Opponents of the law do not want the term to extend until 2024.
