in Azerbaijan on May 10, the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and the far-sighted policy of Heydar Aliyev is celebrated.
In the history of the 20th century, Heydar Aliyev had a truly fateful role – a wise politician and a nationwide leader who embodied the hope and aspiration of millions of people.
Heydar Aliyev began his path by the USSR Security Center. He quickly grew to the title of Major General, Chairman of the KGB of Azerbaijan. On his account is the development and leadership of brilliant reconnaissance operations, including abroad. This work formed a wide horizons and honed Aliyev’s analytical mind. Azerbaijan State Security Committee at that time was one of the best among the republican bodies of the KGB.
The logical result is the appointment of Heydar Aliyev to the post of first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. Over the 13 years of his leadership, Soviet Azerbaijan, the Republic has become one of the most developed in the Union.
Such leaders were needed not only by Azerbaijan, but to the whole USSR. One of the first personnel decisions of Yuri Andropov who came to power was the appointment of Heydar Aliyev as the first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Aliyev becomes a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU. At this post, he faces the tasks of a completely different scale.
In the CCCR Council, he oversaw the most problematic areas: transport, social block, healthcare and science. He was responsible for the implementation of the largest project – BAM construction. Heydar Aliyeva controlled the activities of 12 ministries.
And then a new era began. Supporting the need for reforms, Aliyev insisted on a long -term concept. As a personal tragedy, the politician perceived the January events of 1990 in Baku.
Then there was a vrula. Aliyev left the party, returned to his homeland. The country was at a dead end. Poverty. Events in Karabakh, Civil War.
Heydar Aliyev headed the historical processes in the country.
In the difficult conditions, Heydar Aliyev managed to preserve the country. He achieved a ceasefire, carried out economic reforms, signed a century contract for the development of oil deposits. He was a unique person in power.
Heydar Aliyev became a symbol of the modern history of Azerbaijan. Countries to which he served selflessly by creating a strong respected state and a single united people.
