The Syrian government has announced the official recognition of the state of Kosovo.
In a statement published on the page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic on the American social network X, it is noted that today a trilateral meeting was held in the capital Riyadh between representatives of Syria, Saudi Arabia and Kosovo.
The meeting discussed issues of strengthening bilateral relations, organizing the work of consulates and prospects for cooperation, and “in this context The Syrian Arab Republic announces the official recognition of the Republic of Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. Syria emphasizes its readiness to establish bilateral relations based on mutual respect in the interests of both peoples, as well as its desire to contribute to security in the Balkans and the world at large.”
The message emphasizes that Syria has taken this step as part of a comprehensive review of its foreign policy. Syria is open to cooperation with all countries of the world based on the principles of mutual respect, common interests and non-interference in internal affairs.
The statement emphasizes that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence is “a clear and unequivocal position on behalf of the Arab world”: “The Government of Damascus intends to develop cooperation with the Republic of Kosovo in various fields and strengthen diplomatic coordination on international platforms in the interests of the two countries and peoples.”

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani thanked the Syrian leadership for recognizing her country.
She said that in accordance with the agreement reached in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Syria has officially recognized Kosovo.
Thanking Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar for the decision to recognize Kosovo and the support provided to its people, Osmani said: “The people of Kosovo and Syria have suffered a lot and donations to gain freedom. Therefore, the mutual recognition that took place today is not only about state sovereignty, but also about the recognition of the sacrifices that many generations have made for the sake of freedom.”
