The Chairman of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdulkadir Husariyeh, announced the release of six new series of banknotes without images and symbols in order to modernize the national currency.
Husariyeh, in a statement to the official Syrian news agency SANA, said that the new banknotes will have different sizes: small, medium and large.
According to him, with the aim modernization of the national currency, a series of six new banknotes will be issued without images and symbols: “The new banknotes are designed to facilitate verification and comply with international standards.”
Once the printing and distribution process is completed, all details about the banknotes will be made public. The head of the central bank emphasized that the new banknotes will replace old and worn-out banknotes in circulation, but will not increase the overall money supply.
“This is a step towards modernization, it does not aim to expand the money supply, but is a targeted monetary policy aimed at regulating liquidity in the money market and ensuring price stability. We will implement this,” said Abdulkadir Husariye.
