Tajikistan And EU Intend To Expand Cooperation In Industry And Raw Material Sector

Tajikistan and the European Union confirmed the desire to deepen partnerships in the key industries and expand joint investment activities, Avest reports.

Negotiations were held in Dushanbe with the participation of the leadership of the department and the head of the department of the General Directorate of the European Commission for International Cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and Central Asia Charlotte Adrian.

The parties discussed the current state of interaction and prospects for the implementation of new joint projects.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of attracting investments in the priority industries of the Tajik economy. Machine -building, pharmaceuticals, textile and food industries, as well as a mining sector with an emphasis on the extraction and processing of critically important raw materials, were indicated as key areas.

As the participants in negotiations noted, the development of cooperation in these areas creates the conditions for sustainable economic growth, technological exchange and increase in employment in Tajikistan.

Additionally, the parties considered the possibilities of Dushanbe participation in the EU initiative “Global Gateway” aimed at developing sustainable infrastructure and strengthening strategic connections in Eurasia.

In conclusion, the meeting confirmed a mutual interest in continuing the dialogue and the study of specific projects in the field of investment and technical support.
