Tajikistan and Italy agreed to develop economic cooperation

The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in Rome with Italy Prime Minister George Melony. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

During the meeting, the issues of expanding ties in the political, economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres and security spheres were discussed.

The parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the areas of hydropower, light, food, metallurgical, mining and chemical industries, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and tourism.

It is noted that the attraction of Italian capital for the development of the industrial sphere of Tajikistan is beneficial for both countries.

It is emphasized that in Tajikistan there are wide opportunities and resources for creating joint ventures for the processing of agricultural and industrial products and increase its exports to European countries.

Other themes of the meeting were the creation of direct flights and connections between two sides in the field of education and health, the allocation of quotas for Tajikistan citizens in higher educational institutions of Italy.

The parties also discussed cooperation between the UN, OSCE and other international organizations.

In connection with a difficult international political situation, effective cooperation in the fight against modern threats and challenges was recognized as necessary.

After the completion of the official meetings and negotiations of Tajikistan and Italy in the presence of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Emomali Rahmon and the Prime Minister of Italy George Melony, the ceremony of signing new cooperation documents.

In total, according to the results of the meeting at the highest level, 7 new documents were signed.

Agreements provide for interaction on safety issues, combating drugs, cooperation in the field of tourism and sustainable development.

An agreement was also signed on the abolition of visa requirements for owners of diplomatic passports.
