Tajikistan And Uzbekistan Are Aimed At Increasing Trade Turnover To $ 2 Billion

Dushanbe and Tashkent are aimed at increasing the turnover to $ 2 billion by 2030. This was announced at the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in Khiva.

The event was attended by a delegation of Tajikistan, led by the Prime Minister of the country Kokhir Rasulzod, as well as Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov.

During the meeting, current issues of interstate cooperation in such areas as trade, investments, energy, customs, education and culture were discussed.

The parties noted that in recent years, Tajik-Uzbek cooperation has reached a new stage, and allied ties between countries are consistently strengthened.

Rasulzoda and Aripov emphasized that the volume of mutual trade has doubled over the past 5 years.

In addition, the number of joint ventures exceeded three hundred and continues to grow. At the same time, according to the heads of departments, the existing level of trade does not yet fully reflect the potential of the parties, and there are significant unused possibilities.

Leaders set the governments the task of bringing the volume of mutual trade to $ 2 billion by 2030.

The interlocutors also announced the need to deepen industrial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects in the field of transport and communications.

Following the meeting, the protocol of the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan was signed.

In addition, the prime ministers of the two countries jointly visited the Open Air Museum-Ichan Kalu in Khiva.
