Taliban came to Moscow to negotiate

On Wednesday, October 20, negotiations will be held in the Moscow “President Hotel” with the participation of Taliban – this is the first visit of the representatives of movement to Russia after they come to power in Afghanistan in August. The delegation of the Taliban will be headed by the Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Salam Khanafi. Open the meeting will be the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, RBC reports.

The Announcement of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the meeting will be held within the framework of the Moscow Council consultation format on Afghanistan. This format was created in 2017 and set the task of reconciling the already overthrown government of Afghanistan and then in the opposition “Taliban”. However, representatives of the old authorities at the meeting in Moscow will not be – only the Taliban, said the Special Representative of the President of Russia in Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov.

Negotiations were not invited to the front of the resistance front, headed by Ahmad Shah Masud-Jr., is the only force in the country that continues to lead the partisan war and calls on Afghans to a national uprising. The President of Afghanistan was not invited in 2004-2014 Hamid Karzai.

It is known that in addition to Russian diplomats, participants from China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will be involved in the negotiations.
