Tashkent refuted information about adoption of Northern Cyprus to organization of Turkic states

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was not accepted into the organization of the Turkic states (OTG), although the Turkish media previously reported this. The corresponding statement on November 11 was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov at a briefing dedicated to the results of the meeting of the heads of state of the OTG in Samarkand, the Ferghana agency.

Earlier on November 11, the Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlyut Chavushoglu said that Northern Cyprus received the status of an observer in the show.

According to Norov, Uzbekistan respects the sovereignty of other countries and does not consider it necessary to attract Northern Cyprus to participate in OTG. He emphasized that Northern Cyprus did not receive any status in the organization following the summit. “According to the results of the summit, no separate decision on the Northern Cyprus was signed. Uzbekistan is strictly guided by the norms of international law, especially in matters of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the state. There is no talk of recognizing the Northern Cyprus as an independent state,” Norov said.
