Jayhun Bayramov informed Karen Donfried about the persistent tension on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, expressed concern about the Azerbaijani side in connection with the current situation.
During the telephone conversation, it was emphasized that, despite the ceasefire reached on September 13, the Armenian side continued to attack Azerbaijani positions, which led to the death of Azerbaijani troops.
The Foreign Minister noted that Azerbaijan only responds to the attacks of the Armenian side, is emphasized the importance of unconditional compliance by Armenia of the ceasefire, abstinence from provocative actions in this situation, solving the problem by negotiations.
Jayhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan is interested in normalizing relations with Armenia in a political-diplomatic plane.
At the same time, Karen Donfried expressed concern about increasing tension in the region and said that the American side was waiting for immediate termination of hostilities and compliance with the ceasefire. She emphasized the importance of ensuring stability and continuing the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
