At the initiative of the French side on May 16, a telephone conversation took place between the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry by Jayhun Bayramov and Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Yves Le Drian.
According to the foreign policy department of Azerbaijan, the ministers discussed issues related to recent tensions in the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that after a long time, measures were taken to strengthen the border with Armenia. He informed the interlocutor about the placement of Azerbaijani border troops on positions relating to Azerbaijan, about a constructive approach, demonstrated by Azerbaijan to resolve disagreements and tensions between the parties, as well as that the leadership of the State Protection was immediately sent to the Region for negotiations with the other Party.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the inadmissibility of exaggeration and politicization of border tension and the importance of solving such issues by negotiations.
Ministers also exchanged views on post-conflict periods.
