Third wave of Covid-19 in Georgia

The third wave of coronavirus infection has begun in Georgia. As the TASS reports, the general director of the National Center for Control over Disease and Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Georgia Amiran Gamkrelidze on the air of the Georgian TV channel “Rustavi 2” was reported on Sunday.

“The country has already begun the third wave, however, we want it to be the maximum managed to not get a large-scale epidemic. All clusters [distribution of infection] that we have, are associated with a large cluster of people: weddings, commemoration, days Birth and Other, “said Gamkrelidze, adding that recently most cases of infection are associated with the spread of the so-called British strain.

The first case of contamination of coronavirus in Georgia was recorded on February 26, 2020. From March 21 to May 22 of the same year, a state of emergency was acted in the republic. The second wave of infection in the country began in September last year and reached a peak on December 5 (5,450 new cases). From November, the government had to introduce a number of restrictions, including a ban on exit from home from 21:00 to 05:00.
