Thousands of Russian businessmen fled to Georgia

Georgian authorities calculated the number of Russian businessmen who moved to the country and registered their business in it during the war in Ukraine. Their total number reached 7.5 thousand in six months, the Interpressus agency reports.

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, since the beginning of March, 544 organizations with limited liability with Russian owners were registered in the country, as well as 6.9 thousand individual entrepreneurs and two branches of foreign companies.

Most of all – 2.1 thousand – Russian businessmen without taking into account the category was registered in March. In April, more than 1.6 thousand were registered, in May – more than 1.3 thousand, in June – more than 1.2 thousand, in July – 1.1 thousand.

Georgia has become one of the most popular areas for tourist trips and the change of place of residence for Russians after imposing sanctions and closing air communication with most Western countries. From January to July, the Russians made 403 thousand tourist trips to Georgia.
