President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev accepted the executive director of the Green Climate Fund Mafalda Duarte.
According to the press service of Akorda on Friday, May 23, the meeting discussed the prospects for deepening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Foundation.
Tokaev noted that in Kazakhstan special attention is paid to environmental protection, including the preservation and increase of the forest fund, the rational use of natural resources.
Kazakhstan next year plans to conduct a regional climatic summit. The main goal of this event is to search for a collective solution to the most important tasks, including adaptation to the consequences of climate change, providing food and water security.
In turn, Mafalda Duarte supported the efforts of Kazakhstan aimed at solving climatic problems.
In particular, she praised the national adaptation plan implemented with the participation of the Fund, which includes a comprehensive system for managing natural disasters and the early warning system.
Interlocutors also emphasized the importance of the formation of a respect for nature and the development of environmental culture in society.
