Tokaev announced need to “move on” in cooperation with United States

The United States has always been a strategic partner of Kazakhstan in the fields of strengthening global security, non -proliferation of nuclear weapons, ensuring economic sustainability and promoting democratic values. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev at a meeting with the chairman of the US Senate Committee on National Security and Government’s Affairs Gary Peters.

Tokaev noted that the visit of the US Senator provides a good opportunity for a thorough exchange of views on bilateral cooperation.

“I think that we managed to achieve a lot, but, nevertheless, we need to go further to strengthen mutual cooperation in areas representing mutual interest,” said the president whose words are quoted by the press service of the Kazakh leader.

During the conversation, Tokaev expressed gratitude to President Joe Biden for invitation to the first summit of the leaders of the countries of Central Asia and the USA, which will be held in the C5+1 format at the UN General Assembly in September this year.

Gary Peters in the turn, thanked Tokaev for the opportunity to discuss key issues of strengthening relations between the United States and Kazakhstan.

“Central Asia is an important part of the world, and Kazakhstan is a key country in the region of Central Asia. Therefore, we want to make sure that we have opportunities for further joint work. I believe, President Biden shares this opinion, and he will be glad to meet With you in New York in the near future. This will help us continue to work on strengthening our relations, ”the senator said.
