Tokaev Noted Importance Of Expanding Dialogue Between Central Banks Of OTG Countries

, chaired by the President of Kazakhstan, Kasym -Zhomart Tokayev, in Astana, the first meeting of the Council of Central (National) banks of the countries – participants in the organization of Turkic states (OTG).

According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, opening the meeting, Tokaev noted that during the recent informal summit in Hungary, the heads of state of the OTG confirmed the importance of deepening interaction, especially in the conditions of the transformation of the global economy caused by a change in tariff policy.

According to him, current unprecedented changes are borne by both challenges and new opportunities that require coordinated efforts in such key sectors as transport and logistics, agriculture, digitalization and finances.

“The total share of our countries in the global GDP increased from 2.4 % in 2010 to 3.1 %. The constant growth of international reserves of the OTG states indicates an increase in the macroeconomic stability of the region,” Tokaev emphasized.

The head of the Kazakh state also believes that the expansion of cooperation in the financial sector can become a catalyst for a wider economic and investment partnership, while central banks can play a key role in this process.

“It is gratifying that the agenda of the Council includes relevant and timely topics relating to economic trends, monetary policy, as well as the development of financial technologies, including digital currencies of central banks, cryptocurrencies and digital assets. Kazakhstan has achieved significant progress in this area: the share of non-cash in the structure of all transactions reached 85 %. Our national bank is the first in the first time. The region has been introduced by digital tenge.

At the end of Tokaev, he expressed confidence that the expansion of professional dialogue between the central banks will lay a strong foundation for the realization of the economic potential of the Turkic region.
