Tokayev: Potential For Cooperation With Finland In Investment And Trade Has Not Been Exhausted

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Finnish President Alexander Stubb. This was reported on Tuesday, October 28, on Akorda’s Telegram channel.

Tokayev noted that his colleague’s visit is of particular importance, and this is an important and in many ways a breakthrough event that will give new impetus to the development of bilateral ties. “Kazakhstan and Finland have established good traditions of friendship and mutual cooperation. We have no unresolved issues, and the potential for interaction in the areas of investment and trade is far from exhausted,” said the head of state.

The President believes that holding a business forum organized on the initiative of the Finnish side is of great importance. “This afternoon I will also take part in its work. I hope that it will inspire entrepreneurs of our countries to develop business ties,” the president said.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that humanitarian contacts are maintained at a high level. “In general, Finland is very popular in Kazakhstan – our people respect your country, its culture and traditions. Many Kazakh tourists visit Finland with pleasure. I am sure that your visit will open up new opportunities for strengthening the partnership between our countries,” the president said.

In turn, Alexander Stubb noted that this is his third visit to Kazakhstan. “We first met in 2008, when I served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and you were Speaker of the Senate. I believe that today we will focus on two key areas. The first is the development of our bilateral relations and business cooperation,” the Finnish leader noted.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that he is accompanied by a large business delegation, which includes representatives of more than 20 leading Finnish companies.

“It was nice to see familiar Finnish brands like Isku and Honkarakenne on the streets of Astana. The second area of our negotiations is issues of foreign policy and security. We have many common interests, and we strive to find solutions to complex issues,” the president added.
