Trilateral Meeting Türkiye-Russia-Ukraine Will Begin At 13:00 In Istanbul

A tripartite meeting in the format of Türkiye-Russia-Ukraine, as expected, starts in Istanbul at 13.00 local time.

According to sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (Mi̇T) Ibrahim Kalyn will also take part in the negotiations.

Türkiye, which in May gathered delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine at the same table three years later, on June 2, organizes negotiations in Istanbul.

The Russian delegation is represented by the assistant to the president Vladimir Medinsky. The Ukrainian side is headed by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umarov. The meeting will be held in a closed format.

The Russian delegation is ready to transfer its memorandum to Ukrainian and give the “necessary explanations” on it. The Ukrainian side is expected to insist on the ceasefire and will raise the question of the meeting at the level of leaders on the agenda.

The first round of negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine took place on May 16 in the residence of Dolmabakhche in Istanbul. It is expected that the second round of negotiations between the conflicting parties will be held on June 2 at 13.00 (Turkish time) in the Palace of Chyragan.

According to the results of the first meeting, the parties agreed to conduct a large -scale exchange of prisoners according to the formula “1000 by 1000”, to imagine in detail their views on a possible ceasefire, and then continue negotiations.

Kyiv and Moscow reported that the exchange of prisoners, agreed in Istanbul, was completed on May 25.
