Trump Announced Introduction Of 35% Of Duty On Goods From Canada From August 1

US President Donald Trump said that from August 1, a separate duty of 35%will be introduced on all Canadian goods, regardless of the sector. He announced this in the Truth Social letter published on the social network addressed to the Canadian government.

According to Trump, despite the response measures from Ottawa, the United States will continue to interact with Canada. He noted that the duties are introduced as part of the struggle with the fentanil crisis, in which, according to him, Canada is also involved.

“From August 1, all goods from Canada, in addition to existing industry tariffs, will be additionally used in the amount of 35%,” Trump wrote.

He added that goods imported through third countries to bypass new bets will be taxed even higher duties. At the same time, for Canadian companies that decided to transfer production to the United States, there will be no tariffs, and the process of approval of projects will be accelerated.

“If you decide to increase duties against us, then, regardless of the percentage, it will be added to the existing 35%,” Trump emphasized.

He also accused Canada of creating an “unacceptable trade deficit” and the use of tariff and non -tariff barriers that threaten the economy and national security of the United States.

“If Canada decides to cooperate with me to stop the supply of fentanyl, we will be able to reconsider this letter. Depending on the development of our relations, the tariffs can be both reduced and increased,” concluded Trump.
