US President Donald Trump said that he expects similar actions from Russia after reaching an agreement on the ceasefire in Ukraine: “Vladimir Putin made a very promising statement, I would like to meet and talk to him in the near future.”
Accepting in the White House of the Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, Trump appreciated the Russian-Ukrainian agenda and other foreign policy topics in the oval office.
reminding that Ukraine agreed to a 30-day temporary ceasefire, the president noted: “We hope that Russia will do the same. It is necessary to complete the ceasefire.”
reminding that his special representative Steve Vitkoff holds negotiations in Moscow about the ceasefire, Trump emphasized that these negotiations are very serious and he has high hopes for them.
Speaking about the recent statements of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ceasefire agreement, Trump continued: “Putin made a very promising statement, I would like to meet and talk to him in the near future. If Russia does not want to negotiate, this will be disappointed for the whole world.”
According to him, they were negotiating with Ukraine about the territories that will belong to Russia. Trump emphasized that many topics, including the power station, were discussed in the context of the final agreement.
“This business (the war between Russia and Ukraine) could last a long time. I do not think that Russia will attack other allies, I will do everything so that this does not happen,” the president summed up.
