US President Donald Trump proposed reducing current customs duties for Chinese goods from 145% to 80% on the eve of the planned negotiations between American and Chinese delegations in Switzerland.
“The fee of 80% of the goods from China looks appropriate. The decision remains behind Scott Bessoent,” follows from the statement of the head of the White House on the social network Truth Social.
Negotiations in Switzerland will be the first official confrontation between the United States and China after Trump introducing duties of 145% on Chinese products.
The American delegation will be headed by the Minister of Finance Scott Immentan and the trade representative Jamison Grire, the Chinese side will be presented by Deputy Prime Minister He Lifen, who oversees economic ties.
The parties plan to discuss mutual trade duties and ways to equalize the trade balance between the two countries.
