US President Donald Trump sharply condemned the actions of protesters in Los Angeles, saying that they were disrespect for national symbols and public order.
“They proudly carry the flags of other countries, but do not raise the American one. Instead they burn it. Those who burn the US flag should be sentenced to one year of prison,” Trump said at the Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina.
He described the actions of the protesters as unacceptable and added that he took measures to restore order, because, according to him, the authorities of California were “incompetent.”
According to the president, most protesters participated in promotions for the sake of personal benefits. He emphasized that he sent thousands of troops of the National Guard to Los Angeles, which, according to him, prevented the destruction of the city. At the same time, he called the Governor of California Gavin Newsoma “incompetent.”
“What is happening in California is an attack on the world, public order and national sovereignty. Rioters waving foreign flags strive for the occupation of our country. We will not be allowed,” Trump said.
He also stated that in Los Angeles there are many illegal migrants who should be arrested. “We will free Los Angeles,” he promised.
Trump noted that as a commander in chief, he intends to use all available means to ensure security in the city, because, according to him, the law has such an obligation to him.
The President also recalled that on June 14 in Washington, a large-scale parade will be held in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the American army.
“We won the First World War. If not for the United States, today you might have spoke German with an admixture of Japanese. But we won,” he concluded.
Protest in Los Angeles against the actions of Ice
In Los Angeles, protests continue to support illegal migrants detained by the immigration and customs police (ICE). Demonstrations are accompanied by mass detentions and periodic clashes with the police.
President Trump said he was introducing the National Guard to stabilize the situation, accusing the city administration and the Democrat Governor of the inability to ensure order.
