US President Donald Trump signed a decree on the termination of the state financing of the NPR radio stations and the PBS television broadcasting service for the “prejudice of the news”, the press service of the White House.
The statement notes that NPR and PBS annually receive millions of dollars from the public broadcasting service (CPB). It is emphasized that the federal financing of these organizations, which, is alleged, demonstrate bias, was reduced in the limits that are most acceptable as possible.
The statement states that all federal agencies are ordered to terminate funding directly or indirectly provided by NPR and PBS and revise existing contracts.
Last month, PBS Executive Director Pols Kerger said Trump’s attempts to reduce media financing will “violate” the main services that the PBS to the US population.
At a meeting of the House of US Representatives on March 27, between the Republican Congressman Marjori Taylor Green and the heads of public television and radio companies NPR and PBS, a dispute flared up about whether these organizations of levoliberal editorial policy are adhering to.
