The United States agreed with NATO on the supply of weapons to Ukraine through the structure of the alliance, and the costs of these supplies will be fully taken by NATO, said US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump shared the details of the new agreement between the USA, NATO and Ukraine regarding military assistance.
According to him, the military equipment that will be sent from the United States will first be at the disposal of NATO, and then the Alliance will transfer it to Ukraine.
“We send NATO weapons, and NATO pays for 100%. In fact, it enters the balance of the alliance, and then is transferred to Ukraine,” he explained.
The head of the White House emphasized that the agreement was reached at the NATO summit that was held last month.
He also noted that the same scheme will be applied to the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems Patriot.
“We will pass on the Patriot NATO, and then the Alliance will deal with their distribution,” he added.
Trump also commented on the situation around the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“Russia disappointed me, but in the coming weeks we will see how events will develop,” he said.
The American leader also announced an important statement in Russia, which he plans to make on Monday, July 14.
In addition, Trump announced plans to introduce uniform customs duties in the amount of 15-20% in relation to most US trading partners. According to him, the already accepted tariffs were met “very positively.”
Currently, the base rate of the general customs tariff is 10%.
