US President Donald Trump said that he would cancel sanctions against Syria, reminding his conversation with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Trump, as part of his tour of the Persian Gulf, spoke at the joint investment forum of Saudi Arabia and the USA in Riyadh.
In his speech, US President Trump mentioned US sanctions against Syria, noting that they would be lifted.
He recalled the telephone conversation with President Erdogan with the words: “In the last days, the leader of Turkey Erdogan made such a request. My other respected friends in the Middle East also said this: we will cancel sanctions against Syria.”

Trump on May 12 announced that he could also take part in the negotiations in Istanbul: “(US Secretary of State) Marco Rubio will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria (Assad Hassan Sheybani) in Turkey this week.”
In his opinion, the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations that will be held in Istanbul, “will probably give very good results.” Trump noted that US Secretary of State Rubio will take part in these negotiations.
