Trump’s lawyers demanded discharge of judge in case of assault on Capitol

Former US President Donald Trump demanded the allocation of the judge of the Federal Court of the Capital District of Colombia Tanya Chatken.

Trump’s lawyers filed a court of appropriate petition.

Chatken past statements regarding the ex-president of the United States and the connection in the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 were named as the reason for the challenge.

Lawyers noted that such public statements create a feeling of bias incompatible with the justice system.

Chatken, appointed by the former US President Democrat Barack Obama, is known for pronouncing more severe sentences to the accused about the assault on Capitol than the prosecutors.

Previously, Trump announced his readiness to demand the challenge of Chatken and the change of the venue of the court in the case of riots on the Capitol Hill in Washington.
